What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. Your blood has an abundance of natural growth factors and, with injecting and micro-needling PRP into your skin, it stimulates your body’s collagen and elastin production, helping you achieve smoother, softer, younger-looking skin. Here are some of the specific benefits of the PRP procedure in Sydney.
Our blood is made up of four components; red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. PRP is a blood component. Platelets work by reacting to cuts and wounds to clot blood and aid healing. Plasma contains nutrients, proteins and growth factors that repair damage and injuries. These components are therefore useful to stimulate the cells in the skin to produce collagen and elastin.

The PRP will inject into any specific areas of concern, such as under the eyes, acne scarring or lines, for targeting treatment, then a medical grade micro needling device using over the rest of the face. This creates micro-wounds to allow the penetration of the PRP into the skin and to entice the skin to increase cell turnover and healing nutrients to released in the skin. Following the treatment, antiseptic cream will applied to protect and relieve the skin.
Your skin may be red and swollen post-treatment and it is recommended that the face is not touched or wash for a minimum of four hours after the PRP treatment. Once the skin has healed, and the dead skin cells have naturally sloughed off, the soft, new skin is revealed.
